Our concrete measures for the responsible use of energy and resources
We want to operate our hotel in a responsible and transparent way.
At Il Tyrol, we therefore implement concrete measures in a number of areas, including energy, mobility, water, laundry, purchasing and waste management.
On this page, we provide our guests with information about the measures currently implemented at our hotel.
Our sustainability certification
Since February 2025, Hotel Il Tyrol has held a sustainability certification based on a standard recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
GSTC Certificate; Vireo 04.02.2028
Further information about the certification and its criteria is available through the relevant certification body or sustainability label.
Energy
- District heating
Our hotel is heated through the Dobbiaco district heating system.
According to the information available to us, the system uses, among other sources, wood in the form of wood chips as a fuel.
- Electricity from hydropower
Our electricity is purchased through Alperia as certified renewable electricity generated from hydropower.
- Photovoltaic system
A photovoltaic system with a capacity of 50 kW is installed on the roof of our hotel.
The electricity generated is used for the hotel's own consumption.
- Lighting
A large proportion of our lighting uses LED technology.
In selected areas, presence or motion sensors are used to control lighting according to actual use.
Mobility
We want to make it easier for our guests to use public transport during their stay.
• San Candido/Innichen railway station is approximately 500 metres from the hotel.
• The Südtirol Guest Pass allows guests to use public transport subject to the applicable conditions.
• A transfer from the railway station to the hotel can be arranged.
• Three charging stations for electric vehicles are available in our garage.
Water and laundry
We also pay attention to the use of water and laundry resources.
Guests can decide when they would like their towels, bed linen and bathrobes to be changed.
Sauna towels are provided in the rooms, allowing them to be reused whenever possible.
The water from the taps in our hotel is drinking water. During their stay, guests can therefore choose to drink tap water instead of bottled water.
Purchasing and local products
When purchasing goods, particularly food, we consider local producers and suppliers whenever possible.
In this way, we aim to support local economic value creation.
The term “local” refers to the origin of the individual products and does not constitute a general statement about all products used by the hotel.
Waste and single-use materials
Different types of waste are collected separately in the various areas of the hotel.
We have reduced the use of single-use plastic products in several areas and, where possible and appropriate, replaced them with alternative solutions.
Cleaning
When selecting cleaning products, we consider both the required cleaning performance and the characteristics and instructions for use of the respective products.
Specific environmental or sustainability claims concerning individual products are made only where supported by relevant manufacturer information or certification.
Dolomiti Spa
At the Dolomiti Spa, we use selected personal care and cosmetic products.
Where individual products have specific environmental, natural or sustainability-related characteristics, these statements refer exclusively to the individual products and their documented properties.
Personal care products in the rooms
We provide personal care products from the Prija brand in our rooms.
Information regarding ingredients, certifications and other product characteristics relates to the individual products and their manufacturer.
Support for environmental and biodiversity projects
Through external projects, we support initiatives aimed at protecting biodiversity.
We consider this support an additional contribution to environmental and nature protection.
This support does not mean that a stay at Il Tyrol is climate-neutral or emission-free.
We therefore do not use expressions such as “zero-emission stay”, “CO₂-neutral stay” or “climate-neutral hotel” based on external compensation.
Our commitment
For us, sustainability is an ongoing process.
We regularly review the measures we have implemented and aim to introduce further improvements whenever this is technically, economically and organisationally possible.
Rather than making broad environmental promises, we prefer to provide our guests with transparent information about the concrete measures actually implemented at our hotel.
